Kigali, Rwanda. SOKRAB took part in the Africa HealthTech Summit 2026, a three-day event in Kigali that brought together policymakers, health leaders, innovators and development partners to discuss the future of health systems in Africa.

The summit was held under the theme “Wellness for All: Powered by Intelligent Health Systems.” It looked at how technology, digital transformation, data, artificial intelligence and quality improvement can make health systems stronger, smarter and more focused on people.

SOKRAB’s participation

SOKRAB was represented by its IT Manager, who attended sessions across the summit’s main themes:

  • Digital transformation in health systems
  • Health technology and innovation
  • Health data and digital infrastructure
  • Artificial intelligence in healthcare
  • Quality improvement and measurable outcomes

Key insights from the summit

1. Digital transformation is about the organisation, not just the tools.
Technology creates value only when processes, governance and people change with it. Organisations should redesign their workflows before digitising them.

2. Data is basic infrastructure.
Reliable, secure and interoperable data underpins every intelligent system. Data quality, governance and cybersecurity are strategic priorities, not just technical ones.

3. AI must earn trust.
AI can only be adopted at scale if it is transparent, ethical, overseen by people and designed for local realities.

4. Quality improvement links innovation to impact.
Technology succeeds when it is measured against real outcomes such as access, efficiency, accountability and user experience.
